Instalación de Guest Additions en Ubuntu y debian

Logotipo de ubuntuUna vez que hemos virtualizado un sistema debian, ubuntu o alguno de sus derivados con VirtualBox nos encontramos con un tamaño de pantalla demasiado pequeño. Para poder modificar este tamaño de pantalla y para otras operaciones necesitamos instalar las denominadas Guest Additions. Vamos a explicar como hacerlo de forma sencilla.

Lo primero que debemos hacer es preparar el sistema para poder realizar la instalación. Para ello isntalaremos module-assitant. Esto lo haremos como administrador (en debian utilizaremos su). Alguno de estos componentes es posible que ya esté instalado en el sistema. Mejor si es así.

  1. sudo apt-get update
  2. sudo apt-get upgrade
  3. sudo apt-get install build-essential
  4. sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)

Una vez que ya hemos hecho este paso, reiniciamos la máquina e instalamos los siguientes paquetes

  1. sudo apt-get install module-assistant
  2. sudo apt-get install dkms

Y ahora ya estamos preparados para instalar las Guest Additions. En primer lugar hemos de cargar el CD en el sistema. Para ello, desde VirtualBox (podemos utilizar el menú superior que se muestra en la máquina) pulsamos sobre Dispositivos > Insertar imagen de CD de las "Guest Additions"... Esto hará que se cargue el contenido del CD. Tiene propiedades para autoejecutarse. Si ese es tu caso, pues ya solo tienes que aceptar. En caso contrario o que quieras hacerlo manualmente lo que has de hacer es ir al direcotorio del CD (este directorio depende del equipo y usuario y la versión a instalar).

cd /media/adolfo/VBOXADDITIONS_5.0.6_103037

Y ejecutar el archivo 

sudo sh VBoxLinuxAdditions.run

Se iniciará el proceso de instalación y se instalarán. No te preocupes si tarda un rato y parece que no hace nada, es normal.

Después de esto ya podrás modificar el comportamiento de la pantalla en Ver de Dropbox.

Hay que tener en cuenta que al actualizar VirtualBox puede ser necesario volver a repetir este proceso para las Guest Additions.
