Como utilizar SELECT INTO en MySQL

Logotipo de MySQLAlgunas veces necesitamos volcar el contenido de una tabla dentro de otra. Esto habitualmente se hace, en SQL, utilizando la intrucción SELECT INTO. Pero al intentarlo realizar en MySQL nos encontramos con que no existe esta instrucción. La solución la encontramos al utilizar la instrucción de MySQL INSERT INTO...SELECT, que nos permite realizar la inserción de los datos de una búsqueda dentro de una tabla.

La utilización de INSERT INTO...SELECT es muy sencilla y basta con realizar una búsqueda de los elementos que queremos insertar, que puede utilizar las tablas y condiciones que sean necesarias y esto en la tabla.

Obtendríamos una consulta del siguiente tipo, suponiendo que quisieramos una tabla con el nombre del usuario y el país de origen a partir de la tabla de usuarios y la de países.

  1. INSERT INTO Prodecencias (nombreUsuario, paisUsuario)
  2. SELECT Usuarios.nombre, Paises.NombrePais
  3. FROM Usuarios
  4. INNER JOIN Paises ON Usuarios.codigoPais = Paises.codigoPais
  5. WHERE Usuarios.Activo = 1
  6. ORDER BY Usuarios.nombre

donde podemos ver que podemos añadir cláusulas WHERE y todo lo que consideremos oportuno a la consulta.
