Instalando dropbox en Elementary OS

Logotipo elementary OS.En estos días me estoy planteando el cambiar el sistema operativo de mi PC. Actualmente utilizo Windows Vista, y ya he considerado oportuno el momento de cambiar. La distribución elegida es Elementary OS, que está basada en Ubuntu, pero con una presentación mucho más limpia y ligera que esta última. La versión elegida es la actual, Freya.

Para comprobar que el cambio no va a ser traumático estoy comprobando que los programas habituales que utilizo funcionan correctamente, o bien que existe un programa en software libre que lo puede sustituir. La primera sorpresa es que no he conseguido instalar dropbox, a pesar de tener versión para Ubuntu. El problema parece ser que utiliza archivos que están destinados para el entorno de escritorio Unity, que es el utilizado por Ubunty, y en el caso de Elementary OS se utiliza una shell propia basada en gnome.

Después de probar distintas soluciones y parches, que permiten la instalación, pero con problemas como no mostrar el icono de que se encuentra funcionando, encontré la solución en una página en la que han creado un instalador para dropbox. Esta instalación se puede encontrar en https://github.com/zant95/elementary-dropbox y permite la instalación de dropbox de forma realmente sencilla desde la línea de comandos. Los pasos para su instalación son los siguientes:

En primer lugar instalar el git, en caso de no tenerlo instalado.

sudo apt-get install git

Una vez que tenemos instalado el git agregamos el repositorio e instalamos dropbox.

  1. git clone https:// github.com/zant95/elementary-dropbox /tmp/elementary-dropbox
  2. bash /tmp/elementary-dropbox/install.sh

Simplemente hemos de contestar a un par de preguntas sencillas, como si queremos utilizar los iconos originales, y ya tendremos correctamente instalado dropbox en nuestro sistema Elementary OS.

Puedes utilizar Sublime Text, que va bastante bien. Explico como instalarlo en http://www.avanzalia.info/blog/paquetes-para-desarrollo-web-en-sublime-text-3.

Pero cualquiera que funcione en ubuntu te funcionará también en elementary OS.
